Expedited Hiring Events

At our one-day hiring event, those applying for Police Officer Trainee will need to pass the following: Physical Agility Test, Written Test, and Oral Interview to move on in the hiring process. After signing up an informational email will be sent to the eligible candidates including the event time and location.

Event Dates: , April 15th, May 20th, June 24th, July 22nd, August 19th, 
September 16th, October 14th, November 18th

Physical Agility Test

  • 1.5 mile run in 13:30 or less

  • 25 push-ups in 1 minute

  • 30 sit-ups in 1 minute

  • Two attempts/no time limit to get over a 6-Foot Wall

Written Exam

Complete at least one of the following requirements:

  • Take our 100-question, grammar and reading comprehension written exam at the one-day hiring event.  The minimum passing score is 70%.   (This is not the Pellet B exam).

  • Have a Pellet B score of 42 within three years of the date of application. 

  • Have a bachelor's degree with unofficial transcripts and a copy of your diploma upon applying to waive the written test. 

Oral Interview

 

  • There is no dress code, but candidates are encouraged to use their best judgment. 

  • 3-person panel with questions from the POST recommended guidelines

  • Know facts about the Corona Police Department and the City of Corona

    • Mission statement​

    • Special assignments in the Department

    • Chief of Police

  • Questions will range from interpersonal communication, community awareness/involvement, problem-solving integrity, and scenarios.
