Under immediate supervision, attends a Basic Police Academy as approved by the Stat of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST); upon successful completion of the Academy's course of study acquires State of California Peace Officer Status; and in a non-sworn capacity performs related duties, as assigned.

Under general supervision, the Police Officer performs a wide variety of patrol and related duties involving the prevention of crime, the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of laws, codes, and ordinances; conducts surveillance; performs investigative work; controls traffic flow and enforces traffic regulations; responds to various emergencies and calls for service; and performs related duties, as assigned.

Under direction, leads, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatching emergency personnel following prescribed procedures; answers non-emergency calls for public safety and other City departments; performs a variety of general administrative support duties including recordkeeping, typing, and filing; and performs related duties, as assigned.

Under immediate or general supervision, receives, assesses, prioritizes, and transmits emergency and non-emergency incoming telephone and radio calls for the City’s Police Department; coordinates various requests for service for citizens and City employees; processes and maintains a variety of departmental reports, records, and files; and performs related duties, as assigned.

Under moderate supervision, receives emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire and emergency medical services; transmits information via computer aided dispatch (CAD), multi-frequency radio transmitter/receiver, telephone, alarm or other communications equipment; dispatches public safety and medical personnel and equipment according to prescribed procedures; and performs related duties as assigned.

Under general direction, plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of staff performing animal control and animal shelter functions; plans and coordinates a comprehensive animal control program; enforces state and County laws regarding stray, dangerous, and nuisance domestic animals; investigates complaints, patrols assigned areas, captures animals, and ensures humane animal protection and control; and performs related duties, as assigned.

Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of duties involved in the enforcement and communication of animal services codes, ordinances, and regulations; responds to calls and complaints from citizens for animal services and takes appropriate action; establishes and maintains positive community relations; and performs related duties, as assigned. 

Under immediate supervision, provides humane care to domestic and wild animals held at the City animal shelter; cleans and maintains animal shelter facilities; evaluates animals for adoption; maintains computerized records; assists the public with adoptions, surrenders, and lost and found animals; and performs related duties, as assigned.

The Corona Police Explorer Program is a partnership between the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life (L.F.L.) program and the Corona Police. The Post, which is what our group is called, is one of the oldest law enforcement Posts in the country! The program provides young men and women the opportunity to gain valuable training, experience in the law enforcement field and get a head start on a great and rewarding career. The programs emphasis is not on making "mini-police officers" but guiding future leaders with an emphasis on good citizenship with guidance from personnel at Corona PD.
